Erm…could we just pretend that Week Four didn’t happen? Because that would be a good explanation for all those zeroes in my running word count. All I can say is “Ouch.” Really. Last week pretty much kicked my rear end.
I did get a new sponsorship though. (Thank you, January!) I suspect that January noticed I hadn’t posted recently in the forums, and took pity on me. Another factor in my glum mood is that I re-tallied my sponsorship totals and think I miscalculated something in my original total. So when I updated my Write-a-Thon page today, it was a double whammy: All those zeroes, and less sponsorship money than I’d thought I had. Almost thirty dollars less, in fact.
With the end of the Clarion Write-a-Thon just a week and a half away, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make my 40,000 word goal. I think I’m out of the running for the 500 word/day challenge, too. I am still aiming for my $250 sponsorship goal though. Tomorrow, I will have some extra free time finally. I’m going to glue my rear end to a chair and write like a mad writing woman.
There is some good news this week though! Actually, better than good news. Here’s a snippet from this week’s newsletter:
Fantastic news this week! Thanks to the combined generosity of donors both large and small, we exceeded our Week 4 goal, reaching a total of $9,066! This is no time to rest on our laurels, though. Our $10,000 goal is tantalizingly close, but we’ll reach it only if we keep up our efforts for another two weeks!
Of course, there is another challenge given to us writers this week. I’ve got some ideas and will be posting something new this weekend. Now might be a good time to register for my blog so that you can get e-mail updates when I add my next post.
